Canada and Greenland's High Arctic
Fathom Expeditions is proud to operate the custom
PURE ARCTIC Voyage to High Arctic Canada and Greenland.
August 18 – September 03, 2010.

Space is limited.
Join us on this custom 14-night, comprehensive expedition cruise exploring the best of Canada and Greenland's high Arctic during the height of the polar summer.
Relive incredible history from the golden age of exploration, relax amongst teeming Arctic bird and wildlife, take in the local culture and art or marvel at the scenery.
Our expedition ship, has a long history throughout Canada's Arctic and with large cabins, loads of deck space, active and passive stabilizers, a fleet of Zodiacs and the best open bridge in the business, we will enjoy all the wonders of the polar north in comfort and safety.
Guided by a team of the world's premier field experts, travellers will fly into Iqaluit from Ottawa, Canada and begin the voyage.
Sailing North up the fjord-ridden Baffin Coast, we will hike across remote mountains and beaches, discover traditional Inuit communities, bustling bird colonies, endless landscapes lit by the midnight sun and the chance to see polar bears and the amazing walrus in the wild.
As we enter Lancaster Sound, we start to pick up seals and some unparalleled birding opportunities at places like Devon Island, Croker Sound and Prince Leopold Island. We hope to poke our nose into the Northwest Passage prior to experiencing the thrilling history of the Franklin Expedition at Beechey Island.
If ice conditions are acceptable, we will do exploratory stops on Ellesmere Island in the far, far north and possibly even a rare landing in Thule in Greenland. The Arctic town of Pond Inlet gives us a sense of the traditions and life in Canada's north with special emphasis on Inuit art and dance. Whales, muskox, caribou and icebergs all add to the Arctic experience.
From Pond Inlet, we plan to venture across to spectacular Greenland and the second largest ice sheet in the world. Picturesque communities, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, narwal breeding grounds, muskox hideouts and enormous stunning glaciers give Greenland a wild and natural character.
Viking tales of Eric the Red add another element to our history program as we follow in the very footsteps of early explorers. Our journey ends with flights to Ottawa and an overnight prior to heading home.
We hope to see you on this grand voyage into the high Arctic ice.
