Amazon Cruises - Expedition to Amazon River
Expedition to the Heart of the Amazon River
April 29 - May 08, 2005
In 1998, we pioneered a voyage from the mouth of the Amazon River at
Belem in Brazil to the upper reaches 1200 miles away at Iquitos, Peru.
It was an amazing journey - taking a ship inland 1200 miles through the
jungle. The wildlife we encountered was ubiquitous and completely
different from anything we had seen before.
The local people - villages in the jungle far off the civilized path -
were friendly and welcomed us to share in their culture. Swimming with
river dolphins, spotting Scarlet Macaws in the wild, fishing for piranha
and listening to experts tell tales of Amazon history and exploration
all added to the adventure.
Our ship was the greatest floating hotel with every convenience. How
amazing to enjoy such comforts in the heart of the rainforest during the
flood season when our ship and Zodiacs could go virtually everywhere.
We recently decided that it is time to return for another great journey
up the Amazon as it winds from Peru to Brazil. Please feel welcome to
join our group onboard our expedition ship in April of 2005.
I look forward to seeing you on the ship.
Sincerely,
Dave German
