Why Travel to Antarctica?

What is the best time to travel to Antarctica?
From mid December until early March - the height of the Austral summer coincides with the peak of the Wildlife breeding cycle. Stable, warmer weather allows our ship to venture further south into the ice.
What equipment will I need?
A warm insulated parka, waterproof pants, wool socks and rubber boots are the general standard. Prior to your departure we will provide a detailed clothing list along with personalized support and advice.
Is Antarctica Cold?
The summer months are surprisingly mild. Peninsula temperatures range from 250F (-40C) to 460F (80C). Sunscreen is required daily.
What kind of pre-trip information does Fathom Expeditions supply?
Soon after booking, all clients will receive a comprehensive information package, including a trip planner and organizer. We will also send along a booklet detailing each travel destination along with maps and possible landing sites. This package is supported with personalized phone calls and information provided by our experienced Antarctic guide team.
Who travels to Antarctica?
Expedition voyages appeal to people ages 10 to 70. Single and married. Children are welcome to come on the expedition provided they have the proper supervision. This trip can be very rewarding on an educational level to a variety of ages. Antarctica satisfies a variety of interest group needs. What's is a single supplement?
Cabins and hotels are booked on a double occupancy basis. Still, some travelers prefer to enjoy their own cabins and hotels rooms. Single supplement rates are 1.4 times the published fare. Please contact our sales specialists for details.
