Ship Fathom MV Polar Star
The MV Polar Star was built in Finland in
1969 and joined the Swedish fleet of icebreakers under the
name NJORD. The Polar Star was a working icebreaker
in the Baltic until she was bought for full conversion as
an expedition cruiser in April 2000.
The vessel has capacity for 105 passengers
and offers 46 cabins. The ship also sports a panormic lounge,
a comfortable dining room, a lecture room, the Polar Bar and
library. A fleet of fully equiped Zodiacs (super-tough inflatable
boats) is on hand for shore excursions.
